The high global consumption of ibuprofen and its limited elimination by wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), has led to the contamination aquatic systems this common analgesic metabolites. potentially negative environmental public health effects emerging contaminant have raised concerns, driving demand for technologies. implementation bacteria which mineralize organic contaminants in biopurification used decontaminate water or directly processes WWTPs, is a cheap sustainable means complete before release into environment. In work, an ibuprofen-mineralizing bacterial strain isolated from sediments River Elbe was characterized assayed remediate different ibuprofen-polluted media. Strain RW412, identified as Sphingopyxis granuli, 4.48 Mb genome includes plasmid sequences harbor ipf genes that encode first steps mineralization.
